-----------------------------------------
It was winter, when the snow covering all the road. The temperature in Seoul was no joke. Yunjae, a fifteen-years-old boy, shivering so badly when he walked through the snowy road to buy some hot baverage in the minimarket near his house. He was grumbling because of the cold weather.
Yunjae was on the way home when he passed by an empty playground-or he thought so- till he heard a strange sound coming from that playground. He walked through the playground’s entrance, frowning as he saw someone sat on the swing. Curious, he walked slowly toward that girl. Even though he couldn’t see her clearly, he swore that the one in that swing is a girl. He stood in front of that girl, and do nothing. Once the girl lifted her face up, he was frozen. It was not about her face, because it covered with a thick furry red shawl. He was carried away by her eyes. A beautiful wide eyes. He can feel his heart thumping.
He saw the girl looked at him with an unfriendly gaze. He could do nothing. Being clumsy, he sat in the other swing beside the girl. It was a long silence, till Yunjae courageously asked the girl, “What did you do here? Isn’t it cold being outside?”
Again, a long silence wrapped them around. Yunjae keep an eye on her, not moving his eyes even a blink. Suddenly, the girl looked at Yunjae with an undeciphrable gaze. “If you have to choose, what season will you prefer?” she asked. Didn’t know what to say, Yunjae just frowning as he looked directly to the beautiful eyes in front of him. The girl smirked. Although her face covered with a shawl, Yunjae knew that she was smirked to him.
“If you asked me, then it is winter.” she was lost in thought. Again, Yunjae could only frowning without even parted his eyes from the girl even a blink. He couldn’t say a word, and when the girl stood up, he was startled that he followed her up.
“For me, it’s winter,” she continued with a sad tone, “because it’s cold in winter.” With that statement, she left. Yunjae, awaken from his startled, shouting to the leaving girl, “Hay! What’s your name? I’m Yunjae. Can we meet again, the swing girl?”
The girl just left, without even took a second glance to Yunjae, nor letting him knew her name.
One day, fourteen years after that incident, Yunjae come again in the same playground at the same time. He did not expect anything, he just want to recall his old memories. He sat in the same swing he used to sat before. He swung slowly as he looked straight to the entrance. For a god shake, his eyes widened as he saw someone walked along from the playground entrance. He stood up from his seat, and his smile broken when he saw the beautiful eyes staring at him with a beautiful smile following her face.
“Do you believe in a fate?” she asked directly. Yunjae was smiling toward the girl, and gave her a glancing nod, “I do.” The girl smiling back, passed her hand out to Yunjae, “I’m Jiyun. Jung Jiyun.” Then, they were shaking hand with a sincere smile blossoming in their face. They shared a gaze that only them know the meaning.
